Winns has developed clean and natural heating and cooling systems, with a cooling technology of pure CO2, which has no emissions and very little climate impact.
- This is a fantastic job, a new type of project and a new exciting assignment, where we also have a very good collaboration with Winns, boasts Thor Erik Hebnes, head of the HVAC department at Nordic Steel.
Nordic Steel is Norway's leading quality manufacturer of ventilation ducts and equipment for all industries. Cooling and ventilation are closely related and HVAC also covers this field, but then known as HVACR, where the R stands for "refrigeration". Large players are more and more often asking for more than ventilation ducts, such as aggregates, various types of units and cabinets.
- We have produced over 20 cooling units that look like large cupboards. They are produced in acid-resistant steel, according to strict requirements for quality and documentation. The cabinets also have soundproof panels, Hebnes explains.
- A large part of our delivery consists of steel work in the frame and cabinet. Working with a supplier who is familiar with the offshore market and the quality requirements that are set there means a lot to us. The fact that Nordic Steel has expertise, large capacity and real implementation ability is important now when there are many cooling systems that need to be replaced as many chemical cooling gases are banned, says Arne Eikås Børtveit, head of the Offshore department at Winns.
The future-oriented technology for heating and cooling that Winns uses is completely free of CO2 emissions. Today, the heating and cooling of buildings accounts for 20 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, and clean energy plants without emissions are therefore a climate measure of great importance.
Nordic Steel is involved in many forward-looking projects within many different industries. Cooling systems without emissions are a new, exciting technology that Nordic Steel sees very positively in contributing to.
- We want to continue and further develop the collaboration with Winns. It works well at all stages, with dedicated engineering from both us and them, for production and follow-up. It also means a lot that Winns' products contribute to lower climate emissions, says Hebnes.
