Nordic Steel erected the entire steel structure for the building, which has a particularly beautiful church room with high ceilings.
- It's a jewel of a building! The construction of the new Sola church has been a very interesting project for us to be involved in. The church is not an A4 building and the choice of materials has required a lot of planning," says Pål Jacobsen, Project Manager at Nordic Steel.
Already in December 2019, Nordic Steel joined the project to build a new church, which was consecrated on Sunday, October 18, 2020.
With its own installation teams that have extensive experience in the industry, Nordic Steel accepts all types of assignments, whether it's complete buildings, load-bearing structures, facades, extensions or conversions.
Project manager Pål Jacobsen says that main contractor SV Betong and Sola Municipality as the client are very satisfied with the quality of the work delivered.
New Sola Church has also given Nordic Steel an assignment involving art. The company actually has experience with several art projects. However, a 400-kilogram altarpiece is not everyday work for the fitters.
The altarpiece depicts angel wings and was created by artist Marie Buskov. Before the art itself arrived in Sola, it went to Nordic Steel's production facility for welding to prepare it for installation.
Nordic Steel can make most things in steel and naturally took on the challenge of making a kneeler for the church when the question came up. The kneeler is clad in wood from Vågane Viste, but the inside is made of steel.
Nordic Steel is a proud partner in the construction of the new Sola church. As one of the final details, the angel wings were installed above the altar. The kneeling bench was put in place and the church was ready for use.
