- It has been a very exciting project to be involved in. Together with the customer, we have found the best solutions, says Bjørn Erik Ualand, head of the transport and infrastructure department at Nordic Steel.
Fjelltun School in Jørpeland in Rogaland was brand new for the start of school in the fall of 2022. Bjelland AS has been responsible for the outdoor area.
- It is very easy to work with Nordic Steel. They have delivered on time and contributed to us getting the solutions we needed for this project, says Kristian Thrane Holmebakken, plant manager in Bjelland.
- We have thought a lot about what we deliver to be durable and maintenance-free. Corten steel is both maintenance-free and very suitable for planters. The bridge is adapted to the environment in which it stands and the cumaru wooden deck is both durable and has a long life, says Bjørn Erik Ualand.
The over two-tonne steel bridge was both manufactured and assembled at Nordic Steel. It was then hoisted straight into place at Fjelltun school. Contractor Bjelland was keen to use a local supplier for the project.
- The construction time on the project was extremely tight. It was important for us to have good suppliers who can deliver in a short time. In addition, price is always an important factor. We chose to shop locally, rather than go out into Europe, says Kristian Thrane Holmebakken.
