Steel fabrication is the production process where we fabricate, or manufacture, finished products from steel plates and beams.
Before we start the process of fabricating the steel, it is important that our competent technical department has created a base.
In order to process the steel and fabricate it into a specific product, it is important to have good drawings. Therefore, the process always starts with creating a production drawing that matches the customer's wishes and tells our employees and our machines what the product should look like.

Often the product is calculated and dimensioned by us, and perhaps even slightly changed in design, to optimize the customer's product (of course, according to request), and the fabrication basis.
Our technical department also helps develop new prototypes.
Nordic Steel Group has 42,000 square meters of production facilities and a modern machinery park.
When we create a product, the first step is often laser cutting or waterjet cutting, followed by punching or bending.
Laser cutting: We laser cut sheets of steel, stainless steel, aluminum and many more. Our CNC-controlled laser machines and skilled machine operators ensure an efficient flow in production, and great flexibility in what we can offer our customers.
Laser cutting is both a fast and precise technology, where the laser beam cuts the materials. The cutting method is particularly suitable for creating precise contours and precise holes in high quality. The quality is perfect in both thin and thick material, while avoiding scratches and uneven cut surfaces in the material.
Waterjet cutting: The method provides clean cut surfaces, minimal tolerances and no heat effects that weaken the material or thermal shrinkage of the steel. Waterjet cutting does not deform the material, and does not affect structure or hardness. The process is ideal for critical components, special alloys and parts that require high precision. Waterjet cutting works on, among other things, stainless steel, Duplex/Super Duplex, aluminum, unalloyed steel and titanium. Nordic Steel Group can offer cutting depths of up to 330 millimeters.
Punching: To shape the plates we will use, we can punch them. Punching shapes materials using pressing force or impact force. By shaping materials in this way, you can punch through a full eight millimeters of thickness, with a punching speed of 900 strokes per minute.
Punching is versatile because it does not use heat, and can therefore be used on most types of materials.
Bending: This is one of the most widely used processing methods in the sheet metal industry, and is well suited to most types of sheet metal. We have several CNC-controlled press brakes, which can solve even the most complex bending tasks.
By using a press brake, we obtain precise bending angles and bending radii on the materials.
The press brake is very suitable for bending thick plates.
We also have many other services. You can read more about our services here .

Once the material has been cut, bent or punched, it is taken into either our stainless steel hall or carbon steel hall. Now the parts will be welded together to make the product.
At Nordic Steel Group, our customers receive certified welding according to national and international requirements. Our welders are certified to weld with all methods for all purposes.
You can read about our certifications here .
We have our own welding engineers (IWE and IWT) who are trained according to IIW (International Institute of Welding).
You can read more about welding, standards and materials here .
The final step in fabrication is assembling the parts together into a final product, which our assembly department does in our own premises. We also offer surface treatment of products. Whether it is galvanizing, powder coating, wet coating, industrial paint, metallization or Xylan/Molykote.
We offer full documentation of the project, and our customers can also ask us for EPD.
See our separate article about EPD here .
