– When we had the opportunity to buy the neighboring property, it was an excellent solution for us. We will continue to have the entire company together in one place in Bryne. It will be better in every way, both for logistics, climate, efficient operations and not least the social community, says CEO Børre Lobekk of Nordic Steel.
The new property is located at Breimyra 5 and is located right next to Nordic Steel's head office in Langmyra 6. The property is so large that Nordic Steel can grow here in line with growth and needs. Of the total 18,000 square meters, 9,000 square meters are buildings.
Part of the property has already been put into use. The entire assembly department has moved into one of the production halls, and some of the administration has moved into the administration section. One of the buildings will also soon be put into use as a welding hall.
In addition to the production halls and administration building, there is a large terminal building for transporters on the property. The terminal is fully leased and is still used for this purpose.
– Right now we have sufficient space. We can build step by step if needed. The most important thing is that we can develop further together with our customers, says Lobekk.
Nordic Steel was in dialogue with a property developer in Bryne, and was considering expanding its operations to the Vardheia industrial area. At that time, new construction was the only solution.
– That would also be a good solution, and we could build a completely new one according to our needs. But we would have two locations, with the distance and environmental challenges that would have involved, says Lobekk.
There is also a lot of sustainability and value in preserving existing buildings. Nordic Steel has therefore chosen to renovate the interior and furnish it as needed, both administratively and in terms of production.
– The most important thing we have is our people. Then it is also most important to me that we manage to gather everyone in the same place. We meet in the hallways, for lunch, in meetings and for a drink during the working day. It is enormously valuable, concludes Børre Lobekk.
