New contract for Nordic Steel at the world's largest offshore wind farm

Nordic Steel has delivered 120 tons of ventilation ducts to Dogger Bank A. Now, the company has been assigned once again to deliver the equivalent for Dogger Bank B.

- We are very pleased that Aibel has chosen our company as their supplier of ventilation ducts, also for Dogger Bank B. High quality delivered on time has been crucial to Aibel, says Thor Erik Hebnes, Head of the HVAC Department at Nordic Steel.

Aibel builds converter platforms for Doggerbank. It is from these platforms that high voltage direct current technology will be used to deliver energy to UK households. Ventilation is very important on this type of platform and the ducts must be of the very best quality.
Norwegian production for Doggerbank

Norwegian production

Over the last nine months, Nordic Steel has produced ventilation ducts for Dogger Bank A at their factory in Bryne.

All ducts are packed and shipped directly to Aibel’s yard in Thailand for installation, taking over 40 containers, each of 40 ft, to ship the 120 tons of ducts.

In August, Nordic Steel starts producing a new batch of 120 tons ventilation ducts for Dogger Bank B. Norwegian production directly from the factory in Bryne is a key advantage to customers like Aibel.

- Aibel has been following the production closely. This has led to a unique cooperation and communication surrounding everything from design, approvals, progress and packing, Hebnes

Large contract for the HVAC department

Nordic Steel is Norway’s leading quality manufacturer of ventilation ducts and equipment for all industries.

At the world’s largest offshore wind farm, Dogger Bank, Nordic Steel will deliver ducts of the type Simduct, which is Nordic Steel’s own brand, and ducts of class A, B and E.

The contract on Dogger Bank A was the largest contract for the HVAC Department at Nordic Steel, as it was assigned in autumn last year. The contract at Dogger Bank B is equivalent to the Dogger Bank A-contract, once again among the largest for the HVAC Department.

Dogger Bank – the world’s largest offshore wind farm

Dogger Bank will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world and is being developed in three phases, Dogger Bank A, B and C. Dogger Bank A and B is a joint venture between Equinor (40%), SSE Renewables (40%) and Eni (20%). The third development is divided equally between Equinor (50%) and SSE Renewables (50%).

Nordic Steel again emphasize our strong commitment to the environment, taking part in the development of renewable energy.

- We take part in future industries, both as in renewable energy with Dogger Bank, and in sustainable salmon farming on land, as with Salmon Evolution. Nordic Steel is a future-oriented company, taking a clear stance on sustainability of its operations, it is therefore natural for us to take part in the most important projects of the future, says Børre Lobekk, CEO of Nordic Steel.
